Synopsis:
"Painting For Miles" is a fly-on-the-trail look at one woman’s journey in search of inspiration for her first solo landscape exhibition. Corrina Earlie, a talented young artist from County Kildare in Ireland, undertook the 900km walk along El Camino Del Santiago in Northern Spain for the task. "El Camino" is Europe’s oldest pilgrimage trail, winding through the arduous mountain heights of the Pyrenees and across the baking hot Basque plains, leading ultimately to the holy shrine of Santiago Del Compostela. Vivid and colourful sweeping landscapes dominate as the documentary recreates the factual and emotional perspective of the artist as she progresses along the scenic path and copes with its many challenges. The camera shares in her experiences as she meets the physical demands of the trail, interacts with the local culture, absorbs the breathtaking scenery and tries to imagine how she will express all that she is feeling and seeing onto canvas. In sharp contrast to the bright heat of Spain, Corrina returns to her studio in a small village in Ireland. Here she is under pressure to produce 25 paintings worthy of her experience. For a year, the isolated artist toils hard to produce vibrant representations of El Camino in her distinct hyperrealist style. Her efforts and labour ultimately come to fruition at an emotional opening of her exhibition. This is a visually stunning and colourful documentary as seen through the eyes of the artist. It utilises a naturalistic style that slows life down to the pace of walking and showing the deep appreciation of life and beauty that can be found in simply being.
