Synopsis:
India is a favored outsourcing destination for the western world. While we outsource almost anything under the sun for them, we also outsource the much debated "clinical trials". For medicines manufactured and marketed in the international market, India is an ideal testing ground. The poor, illiterate Indian is an easy target to be used as a guinea pig. With government policies in place, also made more favorable post-2005 for drug testing in India, the number of deaths during clinical trials has increased. "Trial & Error" investigates the deaths of poor tribal girls in remote villages of Andhra Pradesh (India). More than 14,000 girls were vaccinated with the internationally debated HPV/cervical cancer vaccine during a clinical trial, and within months of being vaccinated, four of them died. Who is accountable for the deaths of these children who were subjected to a clinical trial even without the informed consent of their parents? Who will give answers to these many unethical clinical trials held? "Trial & Error" finds out.
