Synopsis:
For the seamen in Lira, Costa da Morte, the Prestige oil spill was an opportunity to change their relationship with a depleted sea, hit by overfishing and pollution. The first Marine Reservation of Fishing Interest was founded at the request of the traditional fishing community in Lira, an initiative that placed them as an international model for innovation in the industry. Nevertheless, all changes take their time and cause tension and issues. Fishermen and women from Lira who gather shellfish, leading characters in this documentary, give us an up-to-date view on a major process for all traditional fishing communities in the world, but also for the rest of society, increasingly aware of ocean overexploitation and the extinction of species.
