Synopsis:
Behind the wheel of their sidecars, Geoffroy and Loïc cover 15,500 kilometers of the Silk Road from Kashgar to Paris. In four months, they relive the evolution of world trade since the time of the caravans to the present day and its impact on water resources. In fact, everything we consume needed water taken somewhere in the world to be produced. They chose the Silk Road because they mark the entrance of civilizations in the era of international trade. From East to West, Geoffroy and Loïc discover contrasting lifestyles reminiscent of the different phases of globalization: trade limited to nearby villages, the export of agricultural products and manufactured goods, leading to an economy globalized. Kyrgyzstan and its nomadic culture, Uzbekistan and the cotton, Turkey and its booming economy and finally Europe and its society of mass consumption clearly illustrate these steps.
