Made in collaboration with a Roma family living in slums in the French city of Montpellier, Tiers-Paysage questions marginal places and their inhabitants. Through seasons, we discover this family's daily life, from scrap iron to mendicity, experience of migration in France and trips back to Romania, moments of anxiety and moments of joy. Three generations of women weave their lifestory while, behind the precarious sheds, cranes are extending the city. “Third landscape refers to third-estate (and not to third-world). A space which does not express power nor submission to power.†(Gilles Clément, Manifeste du Tiers paysage).
