About Me:
My Life Story in Short:
I am an independent documentary filmmaker graduated from the documentary department of the National Film School of Denmark last year. I also have a MA in Danish literature and Media studies from the University of Southern Denmark.
As a young girl I grew up in the countryside with my parents. There were no neighbours nearby and, being an only child, I had no siblings to spend my time with. Maybe this is why my father gave me my first camera, a Nikomat, at a very early age. I remember how he, with great sincerity, presented me with this treasure.
At the time, I realized it was an important gift. He gave me my first assignment and with no idea how to use a camera, I set out on a journey of investigation.
He recently passed away, but I am still on this journey, I think. A journey to make notes about life/memories is endless after all.
I have for a while worked with memories and the rooms they create in our minds. I have always wanted to film the moment when a person journeys back into memories and you can almost feel the presence of the past. From time to time, when doing documentaries, I have succeeded in feeling the light, the smells and the sense of the place in the memories of my subject. To really feel the person right in front of me. To me that is a magic moment. When I feel the happiness, the sorrows or the laughter, of my character, depending on who’s story I’m telling.
