Synopsis:
Four prisoners disguised and armed as SS soldiers managed to escape from the concentration camp Auschwitz and its neighboring camp Birkenau in the car of the camp’s vice commander.
The initiator of the breakout, the only one among the four fugitives still alive, 86-year-old Kazimierz Piechowski (no. 913), whose spirit was not broken during his time spent in jail in Stalinist Communist Poland either, reveals the details of this incredible escape and describes the indelible mark it has left on his whole life.
Previously unpublished photographs discovered during the production of the movie showing SS men from Auschwitz in private life situations complete the story.
