Focus Years: 2010 | Country: Iceland
Synopsis:
It is often said that young people are the future. Iceland and Uganda are two former colonies of European nations that gained independence around the same time. They both had to deal with poverty and, in the beginning, the future looked bright. But soon corruption, tyranny, and warfare knocked on Uganda’s door, and today it is considered one the poorest nations in the world.
"Iceland Uganda" compares young people with similar jobs in Iceland and in Uganda where the films portrays the daily lives of sailors, entrepreneurs, and theater students.
"Iceland Uganda" is about people, their hopes, their expectations, and concerns—whether they live in the middle of Africa or the most northern part of Europe.
Are people really so different after all?
