Race Relations in Suburbia| 38mins
Director: Chris Jeske | Producer: Chris Jeske
Focus Years: 2010 | Country: United States
Synopsis:
In this presentation, I share the transformation I experienced when researching the history of race in my hometown. The story includes how my discovery of true and false epiphanies has paralleled my personal journey from a passive participat in structural racism to deeper and deeper practices of life in community.
Weaving together scenes from interviews, social analysis, and personal reflection, I lay out five steps to personal and community transformation.
1. Decide to take action
2. It’s a personal journey
3. Find a transformative environment
4. Love comes before truth
5. Be bold
This presentation was delivered at Marquette University for the Marquette University Center for Peacemaking.
