Roshni lives in the Land of the Gods, known as Dev Bhoomi, and has only one dream: to travel to the Land of Illusions, Mumbai city, known as Maya Nagari. In the Land of the Gods, life has a purpose. And to achieve that purpose, one lives life with utmost purity. For the people of this land, that utmost purity originates from the Word. They believe that since only words are being said, only words are being heard and only words are being read, it is within these words that all of life's secrets are hidden. Television has shown her that people in Mumbai live in buildings of unimaginable heights. It has shown her that Mumbai is home to the film industry and a land where the heroes and heroines reside. The television has told her stories through programs that she believes are true, all projecting the urban dream that is Mumbai. This documentary film takes us on a journey into a land that is filled with knowledge. Roshni means "a ray of light." When, within complete darkness, there enters a ray of light, that is called Roshni.
