We made this documentary as a tribute to Lyra Srinivasan, the primary author of the SARAR Participatory Methodology, which has been used around the world with great results in adult education, water & sanitation and women projects, as well as in many other community-based programs. For example, PHAST (Participatory Hygiene and Sanitation Transformation)is a focused application of SARAR. SARAR is a transformational methodology that focuses on stimulating individual self-esteem and creativity of the individual with the group context towards meeting and resolving collective challenges. SARAR can be adapted to group process settings at many levels and milieus. The video uses footage spanning a quarter century from programs in Asia, Africa and Latin America, as well as inspirational interviews with Lyra and key associates. The video is primarily targeted at people interested in sustainable development.
