Synopsis:
Wild Cries Wild Wings of Wetland and Swamp by John Wolseley (oil painting with waterproof varnish on ply wood) An exuberant eruption of water birds painted in silhouette flying up to the sky. From March to August 2010, the Mockridge Fountain in Melbourne’s City Square was the site of a special, one-off public art project, conceived by artist Lyndal Jones. Lyndal Jones worked for five years on her series Propositions for an Uncertain Future, seeking to address different aspects of climate change. Five responses, through art to a fountain without water, was one project of this series. In the tradition of billboard projects, it temporarily transformed a deactivated fountain, providing a unique opportunity for artists to explore this specific site and very complex topic.
