Lake Kokonor in northwest Tibet (currently the Qinghai Province of China): its surface is more than 3,000 square kilometers, altitude 3,200 meters above sea level. Originally famous for being a highly sacred lake, then in the 1960s it became a famous military research base for the first atomic bomb in China - now it is famous for being one of the most attractive destination for Chinese tourism.
