Synopsis:
Yoga is an ancient science of mind. The practice of yoga can "rewire" the mind. “Yoga in the Shadows†examines the role that yoga plays in the personal recovery of individuals whose stories have led them to jails and prisons, low-income and homeless shelters, teen centers, domestic violence shelters and drug and alcohol recovery centers. We will witness compelling dramas of personal transformations as we explore the shadow places, both emotional and physical, that our characters inhabit. These personal stories are juxtaposed with interviews with the luminaries of the “Mindfulness Movement†and research scientists who are proving empirically, with evidence-based research, that yoga and meditation are effective tools in our society’s efforts to deal with the social costs of stress and addiction.
