Synopsis:
The film is a work of religious metaphors and daily realities, implicitly and skillfully using urban expansion in China, which has been the hot China-related topic in recent years, as the narrative background. The meaning is being implied through a frosty representation of the great difficulties of being human. Humanity lives in the moment and keeps on existing, while the author deliberately hides his criticism and compassion deep inside the unpretentious images.. This story took place in Xi'an six years ago, a city in the northwest of China. At that time, Xi'an, which used to be the capital of ancient China, started its large-scale construction and began its march of urbanization and expansion. The film records two groups of people living in this city - the tramps in the streets and those who believe in God. Wang Huan, the 17 year-old boy, wanders between the two groups, and his encounters form the main narrative clue. With calm observation and deep concern, the film depicts the individuals' living circumstances and their unavoidable destiny and suffering. By the time the film is completed, the city is still on the path of creating its legend and history. But in the corner of the newly-established constructions, people who used to live there are nowhere to be found. After all, no matter how this real world changes, the individuals are still have their own fate to wander through..
