Synopsis:
In the region of Shannbei, China, Yaodong are troglodyte vaulted settlements built on the sides of the mountains. The construction is not based on any architectural plans but on a traditional oral transmission of know-how. The director leads us to the encounter of inhabitants and artisans, indoor and on the building sites, hearing their stories and sharing the rituals of the "yaodong culture" of today.
