The Museum on the Mountain| 49mins
Director: Peter Rosen | Producer: Peter Rosen
Focus Years: 2008 | Country: United States
Synopsis:
The crowning design for architect I. M. Pei is the Miho Museum, depicted in the film. Built in a remote part of the mountain preserve near Kyoto, it is only accessible by a suspension bridge. The mountaintop was removed for the construction over a five year period, then replanted at the end. It is the only true environmentally green architecture, in that nature had to be replaced exactly as it once was, and in accordance with all Japanese environmental laws. Yet, brilliant art was the result.
