Synopsis:
The Iftikhar family is one of the few Muslim families that live in a village in rural Punjab. They are caretakers and Imam of the only mosque in the vicinity, the other ones being far far away. One day while at the mosque, a group of Sikh boys approached Muhammad Iftikhar. They asked him to follow them. They were boys from a neighboring town, Ajitwal. When the imam reached there he was astonished. These boys had reconstructed an old-torn down mosque and wanted him to re-establish the five daily prayers. Buta Singh and his friends, with the support of other residents of Ajitwal, rebuilt what is claimed to be a 600-year-old mosque. However, there were no Muslims in Ajitwal, so they personally went to the imam of the neighboring village to inform him about the mosque and ask for Muslims to use it as a place for worship. This mini-documentary is about this mosque in Ajitwal and the many others that have been built by Hindus and Sikhs. It seeks to answer why, in a time of severe anti-Muslim propaganda in the West, non-Muslims continue to build mosques in rural Punjab. This documentary was in production in August 2010, when Americans began furiously protesting against the building of the "Ground Zero" Mosque in New York City.
