Synopsis:
This is a documentary road film, the destination of the journey is 'The Church of The Last Will', a sect of Vissarion, which has found its promised Land in Siberia. The hero of the film is Igor Novikov, one of the believers. We travel in Siberia with him, to recognize changes in culture and habits of Russians, who, 'tired with atheism ' are looking for new spiritual growth. Vissarion's sect came into existence at the beginning of the nineties. The group does not resemble a typical totalitarian sect, it is neither isolated nor pathological. Inhabitants of Zone are the core of the sect. Zone is an area located deep in Siberian taiga, one hundred kilometers from the nearest road, two hundred kilometers from the nearest town. The community is divided into five villages, and a town named New Jerusalem. The villages are spread round the town within three days walk. New Jerusalem is located at the bottom of the mountain, with its center being Vissarion's red-roofed 'palace'. The community consists of 3500 members. 65% of the sect are educated people, mainly technicians, engineers, former army officers and militiamen, and former secret officers.
