Synopsis:
"The Godmother" tells the story of Fred Gorski (aka Rain Storm), a fiercely gay and pagan cross dresser, who owns and operates Fairplay, a full-service cross-dressing salon, out of his 22-room Victorian house in suburban Staten Island. Rain founded Fairplay after the loss of his long time partner from HIV/AIDS; this left him heavily in debt and his once thriving hair salon is in financial ruin. Armed with a surplus of wigs, beauty supplies, and closets full of clothes, Fairplay evolved from offering basic services to crafting full fantasy worlds.
Fred's life story and the portraits of his staff and clients shatter preconceptions by representing gay, straight, young, old, blue-collar, and professional. Here the lines of gender and sexuality are blurred in stark contrast to the surrounding status-quo. “The Godmother†puts these multi-faceted personalities center-stage in all their complex realities and captures the dynamic and indomitable spirit that is Rain Storm.
