Synopsis:
"The Cobblers Tale" is a film about shoes. The cobbler is a rare combination: both an individual and an archetype: a mythic presence in a human form. To his customers whose shoes are coming to pieces, he is a stable and unchanging fixture in the world. His shop, located in the middle of Gateshead’s Jewish community, is a mirror that reflects back to the viewer a picture of some of the salient social and psychological processes that, like tectonic plates, underlay our culture.
